Head's Blog: Tatler's School Guide

Dear Parents,
We had a very successful visit by the top reviewer from the Tatler Schools Guide on Monday. I can’t wait to read her write-up in the September issue! I thought that I would share her lovely, handwritten letter that I received yesterday; it made me so proud of the school and particularly the children.
It was such a pleasure to meet you and your staff, but I am afraid it was your charming, articulate, amusing pupils that stole the show and gave me the absolute essence of Handcross Park. It was a real privilege to spend such quality time with Jamie and Clemmie and please thank them so much for their incredibly comprehensive, but fun and confident tour. Yes I saw the wonderful facilities and engaging lessons, but it was the way they chatted and reminisced about your assemblies in their time at the Pre-Prep that really stood out. I loved meeting all the boarders (Kenny, Joe, Ismey Melody) and the pupils at lunch (Annie, Alex, Sebastian, Freddie, Meadow, Jemima) and noticed how thoughtful and kind everyone was: doors opened, actions pre-empted. It was very impressive.
It was a joy to see Miss Bithell (Matron), to see how settled and happy and clearly held in high regard by the children in her care. It was a real pleasure to meet the Davies’, Lisa Tavener and various staff along the way, with the high point of seeing Mr Gayler avoiding laser beams as any true agent. I did enjoy speaking with Ms Lyle at lunch.
Last, but not least and a wonderful way to end the visit was chatting through the educational landscape of Sussex and beyond with you. It was wonderful to understand your journey to Handcross Park and your aims for this fabulous school.
Thank you so much to everyone.
