Future Skills

At Handcross Park, we believe strongly in giving our pupils the skills they will need to thrive in a world that can’t even be imagined today. We strive to ensure that our pupils develop key life skills that set them apart from the majority. We have taken bold steps and a creative approach to future-proof the education of our pupils.

Leadership is included in the curriculum

Tatler Schools Guide

All pupils in the Prep School take part in a PLTS (Personal Learning and Thinking Skills) programme as part of the curriculum. The key areas that we focus upon are:

  • Leadership
  • Communication
  • Collaboration
  • Creativity
  • Innovation
  • Critical Thinking
  • Problem Solving

These skills are developed and built upon each year, in a series of projects, lessons and activities.

We also have the ‘leadership’ element of this programme, to include numerous tasks that the pupils can work on in groups. Pupils are taken to ever more demanding challenges, such as camping and trekking in the Brecon Beacons, South Downs or summiting Snowdon. Pupils learn how to work collaboratively to achieve a goal.

These key skills become embedded during a pupils time at Handcross Park, helping them to be ready for what the future may hold in this ever changing world.
