Headmaster’s Welcome
The most important decision you will make as a parent is in choosing the right school for your child. You have now alighted upon one of the leading Preparatory Schools in Sussex. Handcross Park has gained a fast growing reputation for providing a happy, kind and purposeful learning environment, where the girls and boys develop and grow as individuals and are supported in reaching their personal and academic potential. This was confirmed by our 2014 inspection, where we were given the top possible grade in every area of school life.

Educating boys and girls from the ages of 2 to 13, we are proud to be a family school, with a very strong sense of community and citizenship. We believe that above all, a happy child is a productive child and one that will succeed in many areas of school life. As we prepare the children for their Common Entrance and Scholarship exams, we also encourage our pupils to find their voice. They are advised to question what they have learned and to stand up for what they believe. To create this environment, highly skilled teachers are required and our parents and pupils regularly comment on how inspirational and hard working all our staff are at Handcross Park.

We aim to provide a wealth of forward-thinking, educational opportunities for each individual member of the School, to enable them to grow in confidence and to be proud of all they achieve. This is reflected in our Ten Core Themes, developed and implemented by the staff and children.

For those interested in boarding, our Boarding House offers a warm and welcoming environment to children from the age of 7 where both full and weekly (Monday to Friday) boarding are options.

This website will provide you with a flavour of the spirit and warmth of our school, but the only way to really find out what remarkable things are happening at Handcross Park is to see us in action and to meet the staff and pupils. I am confident you will not be disappointed. I look forward to welcoming you to our school.
