How much homework would my daughter have to do every evening?

Pre-Prep: Every child will be expected to read.  In Year 1children have one piece of homework per week to help consolidate learning, usually in the form of a game or investigation.  In Year 2 children will have one literacy activity and one numeracy activity each week to consolidate and practice skills.

What are the catering arrangements?

Nursery: Little Owls and Wise Owls who opt to stay for lunch are served a hot nutritious meal which they eat in the Nursery classrooms.

All meals for children in Reception and above are created in our kitchens and served in the conservatory dining room.  The quality and choice is excellent.  As well as the main meat and vegetarian dishes, homemade soup, pasta and a well-stocked salad bar are always available.

What opportunities will I get to talk to my son’s teachers?

Nursery and Pre-Prep: Parents receive a written report at the end of the academic year and are invited to a consultation each term.  Each classroom has patio doors and parents have the opportunity for a brief chat with the teachers at drop-off and pick-up times each day. Every child has a message book for home and school communication.

Prep: As well as the twice-termly report card, the full-written report, sent twice a year, and the two Parents Evenings arranged for each year group, all teachers are readily available on the end of the phone or email. Each child has a homework planner for home and school communication as well as a useful organizational tool.

Are there any additional costs I need to take into account?

The fees are inclusive of all learning costs, books, meals, educational trips and class photographs.  Most after school activities are free, and a list of the charged activities are included in the fee schedule.

Do the children wear uniforms and where would I buy it?

Children in the Nursery have a sweatshirt for occasional wear (photographs, trips etc)  From Reception onwards pupils are in full school uniform.  We have an on-site shop where all uniform and kit is available at reasonable cost.  Good secondhand uniform can also be bought.
