Drama - having fun, building confidence and learning together
Drama very much contributes to the rounded education that Handcross Park offers its students.
All children are given opportunities to exercise and explore their dramatic skills, discovering and developing hidden talents. Like all arts, drama allows individuals to communicate with and understand others. Perhaps more than any other art form, drama also provides training in the very practical aspects of communication so necessary in today's increasingly information-centred world. Our aim is that children leave the school well equipped to present and speak clearly in public; able to be persuasive in their communications; better able to relate to others and with a positive, confident self-image.
Pupils leaving Handcross Park will have experienced a wide range of drama skills including voice work, stage make-up, stage fighting, dance, musical theatre, mime, improvisation, scripts work, costume and set design, lighting, direction and much, much more.
Every child will have numerous opportunities to perform and will participate in at least one major production every year. We believe that every child should have the chance to shine and whatever your child's talent we will find it and help them develop it. For those sudents who are serious about taking their drama further, audition training and scholarship classes are encouraged.
Students from Handcross Park continue to be successful in auditions for local productions and to secure drama scholarships to senior schools.
