Modern Foreign Languages

Welcome to our vibrant language department where our primary aim is for all children to develop a love of languages together with an awareness of other cultures.

These pages are designed for our family and friends to give you a taster of what's happening in our classroom.

At Handcross Park School, all children study Spanish from Reception to Year 2 and both Spanish and French from Year 3 to Year 8 to Common Entrance level.

We introduced Spanish to Year 2 a couple of years ago and since then Reception and Year 1 also benefit from weekly Spanish sessions.  They particularly enjoy learning rhymes and songs that they then sing to their parents at the end of the day.  They even performed a short Christmas play in December.

We offer a wide range of enrichment activities to stimulate and give every opportunity for children to develop into confident communicators.
