Nursery
Wise Owls and Little Owl
Our vibrant, modern Nursery, situated alongside the Pre-Prep in The Secret Garden, consists of Little Owls for children aged 2 and above and Wise Owls for the rising 4’s (i.e. children who are 3 on September 1st of that year).
Our secure and happy environment enables children to thrive. They have numerous opportunities to develop their skills both outdoors in our well equipped garden, and indoors in our light, inspiring rooms. Children are busily occupied in a range of activities including cooking, gardening, art and craft, making music and early reading and writing skills. There is a purposeful air about the place as children develop skills and a love of learning which will provide the foundations for the rest of their schooling. We want our children to become confident, happy, independent learners with inquiring minds.
As well as the wonderful outdoor facilities on the Nursery’s doorstep, where the children can play in the sand pits, on the bikes or climbing frame or in one of our outside role play areas, we also make full use of our extensive grounds. Our children frequently go on woodland walks and nature trails. The close proximity of the Nursery to the Prep School allows our Wise Owls to use the indoor heated swimming pool for weekly swimming lessons with our brilliant instructors.
Our qualified, friendly staff provide a stimulating, nurturing environment where each child’s needs are catered for through our fun–filled, play based curriculum. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, providing opportunities and experiences in the six areas of learning :
-
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
-
Communication, Language and Literacy
-
Problem solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
-
Knowledge and Understanding of the World
-
Physical Development
-
Creative Development
We recommend that a child attends a minimum of 2 sessions each week in Little Owls progressing to a minimum of 4 morning sessions in Wise Owls. We are very flexible, which allows us to accommodate children for full or half day sessions, with or without lunch. Your son or daughter will benefit enormously from our good staff to pupil ratios which ease each child’s transition from home to the nursery environment, ensuring a very positive early experience of school life.
