Our Nursery

Graded as ‘Outstanding’ in our most recent ISI inspection and shortlisted for ‘Early Years Setting of the Year’ in 2018, our Nursery is made up of two classes: Little Owls (ages 2 - 3) and Wise Owls (rising 4s). Our caring and inspiring staff create a secure and happy environment, enabling children to thrive. It really is the perfect start to your child’s education, giving them a great head start as they move into our Reception classes.

Children in the EYFS make an excellent start and flourish in the warm, welcoming environment

Independent Schools Inspectorate

Inspiring and engaging classrooms lead out to dedicated outdoor spaces for each Nursery class. There are chickens, mud kitchens, vegetable beds and a bespoke outdoor area, where the children can learn, play and grow through the seasons. Being part of the Prep School also means the children can enjoy woodland walks and nature trails across our rural site, as well as weekly swimming in our heated pool and sports using our hall, astro and pitches.

Every day, children are busily engaged in a range of activities, including cooking, gardening, art and craft, making music, roleplay and early reading and writing skills. Those children staying on for the afternoon are always in for a real treat with a brilliant programme of afternoon enrichment activities, which include dance, sporty tots, movement and mindfulness, Spanish, and Forest School - all with an exceptional team of specialist teachers.

There is a calm, purposeful air about the Nursery, as children develop skills and a love of learning. We want our children to become confident, happy, independent learners with inquiring minds.

We are very flexible in our Nursery, and can accommodate children for full or half-day sessions, with or without lunch. Our wraparound care offers care for your child from 7.45am to 6pm, 50 weeks of the year.

We recommend that children first join Little Owls (for children aged 2- 3) the term after they turn 2 and attend a minimum of two morning sessions each week when they start. This then progresses to a minimum of four sessions in Wise Owls (for the rising 4s). Your son or daughter will benefit enormously from our excellent staff-to-pupil ratios and pre-school environment, ensuring a very positive early experience of school life and learning.

The best way to get to know more is to come and visit us. We have a Mini Owls Toddler Group on Tuesday mornings from 9am-10am, where you can meet staff, other parents and learn more about our unique setting.

We look forward to meeting you.
