Grounds and Facilities

Driving through the gate of Handcross Park and up the long drive, visitors find themselves in 50 acres of stunning Sussex parkland and extensive playing fields. The setting is truly wonderful with much of the grounds laid to superb gardens and open areas. The facilities at Handcross Park are excellent and offer the space, opportunities and the technology children require for a first-class education.

The Nursery and Pre-Prep are housed in a purpose built building within the Victorian walled garden providing a spacious and safe environment to learn and play.

The Prep School has excellent facilities (some of which are also used by the Pre-Prep on a regular basis).  Educational resources include: interactive smartboards in every classroom; banks of Google Chromebooks which can be used in all the classrooms; an ICT suite with twenty work stations and a well-equipped science laboratory. In addition to this there is a busy, stand-alone Music School which has numerous practice rooms available for individual instrument learning and practice, an Art Studio and a Design and Technology room.

With the sports fields catering for football, rugby, hockey (girls and boys), cricket, rounders and cross-country, there is also a large Sports Hall, an athletics track, a 6-hole golf course and tennis courts (for tennis and netball).  The School also boasts an indoor swimming pool.

With a commitment to Outdoor learning being part of our Ten Core Themes, the grounds play host to a variety of learning activities including a Forest School and an Organic Garden, complete with chickens. There is also a fun adventure playground which, with its range of play equipment and zip wire, is always busy at play time.
