Miles Templeman - CHAIR

Miles Templeman is the former Director General of the Institute of Directors. Mr Templeman began his career as a marketing specialist and gained his pedigree leading such major consumer brands as Daz, Ribena and Lucozade, and was Marketing Director of Levis jeans. Miles is also on the Governing Body at Brighton College.

 

Adrian Ford - SAFEGUARDING

Adrian Ford is a Housemaster and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead at Brighton College. Adrian grew up in South Wales and gained a History degree at Cardiff University before qualifying as a teacher. He has undertaken many roles in schools including a Director of Rugby, History and Politics Teacher and Housemaster of a co - educational House. He now runs School House at Brighton College as well as working on the Safeguarding Team. 

Wendy Challen - EYFS

Educated at Roedean, Wendy Challen graduated in Primary Education from the Froebel Institute at Roehampton University.   Mrs Challon was the Head of Garden House School, Chelsea for 25 years and mentors new heads in post for IAPS and is a governor of a London maintained school and two independent prep schools in Sussex and Cambridge.

Emma Dobson MA - FINANCE

Emma Dobson is the Bursar of Brighton College. She joined the school in 2018 following 25 years in the Corporate sector as a Finance professional. Emma started her career with Unilever, a global consumer goods company, and spent a decade in the Netherlands fine-tuning her Dutch and cycling skills. Following several senior Finance Leadership positions in various multi-nationals, and too many trans-Atlantic flights, she moved to the independent school sector as a Bursar of Brighton College. Emma holds an MA in Natural Sciences from St John’s College, Cambridge

Jane Hamblett-Jahn – BOARDING

Director of Boarding and Housemistress at Brighton College since 2014, Mrs Hamblett-Jahn gained her PGCE at the Institute of Education, University of London and prior to that her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.), Business Law at Coventry University.

 

Shirley Harris BEd HONS – STAFF

Shirley Harris qualified as a teacher in 1972 and later gained a BEd HONS degree based on primary Language and Literacy, specialising in school management in the final year. Mrs Harris completed Independent School Inspectorate training becoming a team inspector in 2002.

Jo-Anne Riley MA – EDUCATION AND COMPLIANCE

Jo-Anne Riley is the Deputy Headmistress (Academic) of Brighton College. Mrs Riley moved to Brighton College as Head of History in 1999 and was then appointed as Assistant Head Academic by Richard Cairns on his appointment as Head Master in 2006. Mrs Riley has written and introduced a new liberal arts course in Years 7 to 8 called ‘The Story of Our Land’ that replaces History, Geography and Religious Studies and covers the development of Britain from prehistoric times to the Enlightenment.  Mrs Riley has been closely involved in the curriculum development of Brighton College Abu Dhabi.

 

LADY SERENA SOAMES - MA Oxon

Serena Soames has an MA in Human Sciences from Oxford University.   Trained as an investment analyst, she has worked for charitable trusts supporting the preservation of unique buildings and environments, and  promoting understanding of the countryside.  She is a former HXP parent and lives locally to Handcross Park.

Rishi Soni BSc, ACA , FCA – HEALTH AND SAFETY

Commercial Director of Brighton College International Schools, Mr Soni worked at KPMG for 12 years, where he qualified as a chartered accountant and spent 8 years in corporate finance working on a wide range of M&A transactions, fundraising and corporate restructurings. Mr Soni is responsible for assessing new international school opportunities and working with BCIS’s investors to plan and develop each overseas school.
